Our Methodology

Our learning methodology is based on three fundamental premises:

  • The use of experiential learning tools
    "What you hear - you forget, what you see - your remember, what you do - you understand" said Confucius. We do agree! The use of experiential learning tools engages individuals and teams in challenges, gently prodding them to reflect upon these experiences critically, derive useful insight, and incorporate the results through a change in understanding and/or behavior to the workplace

  • The use of "The Power of Play"
    Play and work, we believe are mutually supportive. Play can bring back newness and excitement to the job. It helps us deal with difficulties, promotes mastery of our craft and is an essential part of the creative process. As it is said, play is called "recreation", because it makes us new again. It re-creates us and our world. A little true play in ones life can bring back everything else, including work, back in balance

  • The Power of Facilitation
    Unlike in training programs where inputs are largely one-way from the trainer to the audience, we believe that you know your situation best. And the solutions to the issues you face also lie with the group. Hence, we believe that we can only be catalysts, who - with the aid of facilitation, bring forth and surface this understanding to the fore, so that the group functions more effectively as a team

Design Considerations

In all our programs, FOCUS Adventure uses Challenges effectively to unlock closed minds, stimulate fresh thinking and encourage meaningful dialogues that trigger learning transferable back to the workplace.
FOCUS Adventure utilizes an interdisciplinary approach that blends organization development practices, experiential learning techniques, intellectual and emotional challenges and proven models/ concepts/ frameworks to unlock the synergy in the team and achieve maximum impact.

The characteristics of every FOCUS program are:

  • A Focus on objectives
    We are keenly aware that every program has a specific objective for our clients. We customize our program delivery to ensure that these objectives are clearly met

  • Achieving a paradigm shift
    Though ambitious in its scope, we aim to bring about radical changes and a shift in personal and organizational belief systems and culture through our program

  • Application centered
    Learning is transferred by linking the experience to actual work practices. All participants co-operate to ensure that worthwhile ideas and feedback during the program are recorded, compiled and shared

  • Adventure based experiential learning
    Adults learn best when it is problem-centered and action-oriented. The design of our activities ensures full participation and lessons are drawn from the learning experience. The "Adventure" is often in uncovering new insights and arriving at the destination to find oneself anew again

  • Evaluation
    Evaluation up to Level 3 based on Kirkpatrick's Model can be conducted to measure the effectiveness of the program and its impact on participants.
